Frankie's no seed oils promise
A seed oil is a highly processed oil extracted from seeds like canola, soybean, sunflower, or corn—usually using high heat, pressure, and chemical solvents. Though they’re often marketed as “heart-healthy,” these oils are industrial byproducts that are far removed from real, whole foods. When we say whole food, we mean a product that’s as close to its natural state as possible—minimally processed, with nothing added and nothing taken away. Think fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, eggs, and meats that haven't been altered with additives, preservatives, or artificial stuff. So those highly processed concoctions called seed oils, yeah, not whole foods. Even though they come from a whole food - seeds (like canola, sunflower, or soybean), by the time the oil hits the bottle, there’s nothing “whole” about it. The fiber, nutrients, and natural fats are stripped away, and what's left is an ultra-refined oil that our bodies were never really meant to process in large amounts
Most people don’t realize it, but seed oils like canola, soybean, sunflower, and safflower are in almost everything these days—yup, including ice cream. I know what you're thinking, "Oil in ice cream? That doesn't seem right.." and you're absolutely correct, because oil should not be anywhere near a pint of ice cream. So why are they a predominant ingredient in so many brands? Great question. In ice cream, seed oils are often used to replace actual cream or improve the texture of low-fat formulas. They make the product feel rich while cutting costs in production—but this comes with a cost to your health. You might see these oils sneak into ingredient lists under names like “vegetable oil,” “mono- and diglycerides,” or “emulsifiers.” If we’re out here renaming things, we should consider renaming these ice creams as ice oils.

At Frankie's you don’t have to worry about any disguises in our ingredient labels, or better yet any ingredients or words you can’t pronounce. Using seed oils is a shortcut we refuse to take. We believe indulgence shouldn't come with hidden harm—and that’s why our ice cream will never contain toxins that can cause it. When it comes to our ice cream, we promise to only use whole foods —not lab-made flavors, emulsifiers, or seed oils. Just real ingredients, the way it should be.
